Over Damped और Under Damped Systems में क्या अंतर है? | Structural Dynamics Notes
Damping types system की vibration behavior को determine करती हैं। Overdamped और Underdamped systems की main differences damping ratio और response के आधार पर समझी जा सकती हैं।
1. Damping Ratio (ζ)
- Overdamped: ζ > 1
- Underdamped: 0 < ζ < 1
2. System Response
- Overdamped: System equilibrium तक slowly पहुँचता है, oscillation नहीं होती।
- Underdamped: System equilibrium तक oscillatory motion के साथ पहुँचता है। Amplitude धीरे-धीरे decay होती है।
3. Equation of Motion
General SDOF damped system equation:
m(d²x/dt²) + c(dx/dt) + kx = 0
Overdamped solution: x(t) = C₁ er₁t + C₂ er₂t, r₁, r₂ real and negative
Underdamped solution: x(t) = A e–ζωₙ t sin(ωd t + φ), oscillatory
4. Characteristics Comparison
- Overdamped: Slow return, no oscillation, more stable
- Underdamped: Faster return, oscillatory, amplitude decays gradually
- Energy dissipation occurs in both, but motion pattern differs
5. Applications
- Overdamped: Heavy machinery mounts, precision instruments
- Underdamped: Automotive suspension, flexible structures, vibration testing
6. Conclusion
Overdamped और underdamped systems damping ratio और motion response में fundamentally अलग होते हैं। Engineers system design में desired response के हिसाब से damping select करते हैं।
