What is Rope Drive? Types, Working Principle, Advantages and Applications

Rope Drive एक महत्वपूर्ण Mechanical Power Transmission System है जिसका उपयोग एक Shaft से दूसरी Shaft तक अधिक दूरी पर Mechanical Power को सुरक्षित एवं प्रभावी रूप से स्थानांतरित करने के लिए किया जाता है। इसमें Belt के स्थान पर Rope का उपयोग किया जाता है जो विशेष प्रकार की Grooved Pulleys पर चलती है। Rope Drive विशेष रूप से High Power Transmission तथा Long Centre Distance के लिए उपयुक्त माना जाता है।

Hydroelectric Power Plants, Mining Industries, Cranes, Elevators, Conveyors, Agricultural Machines तथा Heavy Industrial Equipment में Rope Drive का व्यापक उपयोग किया जाता है। Belt Drive की तुलना में Rope Drive अधिक Power तथा अधिक दूरी तक Motion Transmission करने में सक्षम होता है।

Introduction

Mechanical Engineering में Power Transmission Systems का उद्देश्य Prime Mover द्वारा उत्पन्न Mechanical Energy को विभिन्न Machines तक पहुँचाना होता है। जब दो Shafts के बीच Centre Distance अधिक होती है तथा अधिक Power Transmission आवश्यक होती है तब Rope Drive सबसे उपयुक्त विकल्प माना जाता है।

Rope Drive में Rope तथा Pulley के बीच उत्पन्न Frictional Force द्वारा Motion तथा Power का Transmission होता है। Rope की Flexibility तथा Strength इसे Heavy Duty Applications के लिए अत्यंत उपयोगी बनाती है।

Rope Drive वह Mechanical Power Transmission System है जिसमें Fibre Rope अथवा Wire Rope की सहायता से Driving Pulley से Driven Pulley तक Mechanical Power तथा Rotary Motion स्थानांतरित की जाती है।

Working Principle of Rope Drive

Rope Drive Friction Principle पर कार्य करता है। Driving Pulley के Rotate होने पर Rope तथा Pulley के बीच Friction उत्पन्न होता है जिससे Rope Move करती है। यही Rope दूसरी Pulley को भी Rotate करती है तथा Mechanical Power दूसरी Shaft तक पहुँच जाती है।

• Driving Pulley Motor अथवा Engine से Power प्राप्त करती है।
• Driven Pulley प्राप्त Power को Machine तक पहुँचाती है।
• Rope Motion तथा Power का Transmission करती है।
• Shaft Pulley को Support प्रदान करता है।
• Bearing Friction कम करता है।
• Grooved Pulley Rope की Grip बढ़ाती है तथा Slip कम करती है।

Types of Rope

Fibre Rope

Fibre Rope सामान्यतः Cotton, Hemp, Manila तथा Synthetic Fibres से बनाई जाती है। इसका उपयोग Medium Power Transmission तथा Moderate Speed Applications में किया जाता है। Fibre Rope हल्की होती है तथा Noise कम उत्पन्न करती है।

Wire Rope

Wire Rope Steel Wires से निर्मित होती है तथा अत्यधिक मजबूत होती है। इसका उपयोग Heavy Load, High Power तथा Long Distance Power Transmission में किया जाता है। Cranes, Elevators, Mine Hoists तथा Ropeways में Wire Rope का व्यापक उपयोग होता है।

Types of Rope Drive

Open Rope Drive

Open Rope Drive में Driving तथा Driven Pulley दोनों एक ही दिशा में Rotate करती हैं। यह सबसे सामान्य Rope Drive है तथा Industrial Machinery में सबसे अधिक उपयोग होती है।

Cross Rope Drive

Cross Rope Drive में Rope को Cross करके लगाया जाता है जिससे दोनों Pulleys विपरीत दिशा में Rotate करती हैं। इसका उपयोग तब किया जाता है जब Reverse Direction Rotation आवश्यक हो।
