Introduction to Sentence Structure

English Communication में Sentence Structure का अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है। किसी भी भाषा में विचारों को प्रभावी रूप से व्यक्त करने के लिए सही Sentence Structure आवश्यक होता है। Sentence Structure हमें यह समझने में सहायता करता है कि शब्दों को किस प्रकार व्यवस्थित किया जाए ताकि एक स्पष्ट और अर्थपूर्ण वाक्य बनाया जा सके। Engineering Students के लिए Sentence Structure का ज्ञान Technical Writing, Report Writing, Email Writing, Presentation तथा Professional Communication में अत्यंत आवश्यक है।

Definition of Sentence Structure

Sentence Structure refers to the arrangement of words, phrases and clauses in a sentence according to grammatical rules.

Sentence Structure वह तरीका है जिसके द्वारा Words, Phrases तथा Clauses को व्यवस्थित करके एक पूर्ण तथा अर्थपूर्ण Sentence बनाया जाता है।

Basic Components of a Sentence

प्रत्येक Sentence के कुछ मूलभूत Components होते हैं:

1. Subject

Sentence में कार्य करने वाले व्यक्ति, वस्तु या विचार को Subject कहते हैं।

2. Predicate

Subject के बारे में जो कुछ कहा जाता है उसे Predicate कहते हैं।

एक Complete Sentence में निम्न तत्व होने चाहिए:

Types of Sentences Based on Structure

1. Simple Sentence

Simple Sentence में केवल एक Independent Clause होती है।

Structure

Subject + Verb + Object

Examples

The student studies daily.
Ram plays cricket.
The machine works efficiently.
The engineer completed the project.

2. Compound Sentence

Compound Sentence में दो या दो से अधिक Independent Clauses होती हैं जिन्हें Coordinating Conjunctions द्वारा जोड़ा जाता है।

Examples

Ram studied hard, and he passed the examination.
The engineer completed the design, and the manager approved it.
She was tired, but she finished the work.

3. Complex Sentence

Complex Sentence में एक Independent Clause तथा एक या अधिक Dependent Clauses होती हैं।

Examples

I know that he is honest.
The student who worked hard secured good marks.
When the experiment was completed, the report was prepared.

4. Compound-Complex Sentence

इस प्रकार के Sentence में दो या अधिक Independent Clauses तथा एक या अधिक Dependent Clauses होती हैं।

Examples

The engineer completed the project, and the manager approved it because the quality was excellent.
I went to the market, and I bought books that were recommended by my teacher.

Types of Sentences Based on Purpose

1. Declarative Sentence

जो Sentence कोई सूचना देता है।

The project is completed.
The students are studying.

2. Interrogative Sentence

जो Question पूछता है।

Are you ready?
Where do you live?

3. Imperative Sentence

जो आदेश, अनुरोध या सलाह देता है।

Open the door.
Please submit the report.

4. Exclamatory Sentence

जो भावनाएँ व्यक्त करता है।

What a beautiful day!
Hurrah! We won the match.

Word Order in English Sentences

English भाषा में सामान्य Word Order निम्न प्रकार होता है:

Subject + Verb + Object
