Introduction to Prepositions

English Grammar में Prepositions का अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण स्थान है। Communication Skills को मजबूत बनाने के लिए Prepositions का सही ज्ञान आवश्यक होता है। किसी भी sentence में Noun, Pronoun अथवा Phrase का दूसरे शब्दों से संबंध बताने के लिए Preposition का प्रयोग किया जाता है। यदि Preposition का गलत प्रयोग किया जाए तो sentence का अर्थ पूरी तरह बदल सकता है। इसलिए Technical Communication, Business Communication, Report Writing, Email Writing तथा Academic Writing में Prepositions की भूमिका अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है।

Definition of Preposition

Preposition वह word होता है जो Noun, Pronoun या Phrase और sentence के अन्य शब्दों के बीच संबंध स्थापित करता है।

Definition: A preposition is a word placed before a noun or pronoun to show its relationship with another word in a sentence.

Principle of Prepositions

Prepositions मुख्यतः निम्न संबंधों को व्यक्त करते हैं:

Place (स्थान)
Time (समय)
Direction (दिशा)
Movement (गति)
Position (स्थिति)
Cause (कारण)
Purpose (उद्देश्य)
Agent (कर्ता)

ये समय को दर्शाते हैं।

Passive Voice में Agent को व्यक्त करने के लिए By का प्रयोग किया जाता है।

Rule 1: Use of At

Specific Time तथा Specific Place के लिए At का प्रयोग किया जाता है।

Rule 4: Between and Among

Between is used for two persons or things.
Among is used for more than two persons or things.
