Benson Boiler एक supercritical, once-through, high-pressure water tube boiler है, जिसे Dr. Mark Benson ने 1922 में design किया था। यह boiler steam generation में बहुत high efficiency प्रदान करता है और thermal power plants में widely उपयोग होता है।

2. Construction of Benson Boiler

मुख्य components:

• Feed pump: High pressure पर water को system में feed करता है

• Radiant evaporator tubes: Heat absorb करके water को steam में बदलते हैं
• Superheater: Steam को और heat करता है high temp तक

इस boiler में कोई steam drum नहीं होता, जिससे इसकी weight और cost दोनों कम होती है।

3. Working of Benson Boiler

1. Feed pump द्वारा water economizer में भेजा जाता है
2. Economizer में preheating के बाद water evaporator tubes में जाता है
3. Supercritical pressure पर water directly steam में convert हो जाता है
4. Steam को superheater में भेजा जाता है और फिर turbine को feed किया जाता है

Note: चूंकि यह supercritical है, इसलिए water और steam के बीच कोई phase boundary नहीं होती।
